Process Pre-work:

Building Background:

  • Review of PBI specific concepts

    • What is Project-Based Inquiry?
    • Model compelling question building
    • Gathering and analysis of sources
    • Review how to create claims, synthesize and evaluate evidence
    • Review product formation and expectations

Technology Pre-work:

Beginning with the End in Mind!

For this project we'll be studying real issues in our communities as it relates to water quality. Just think, in your teams you'll be researching as active scientists discovering ways we can improve our water and we will also be creating a plan of action to improve our communities! We will produce an Animoto as teams that helps answer our compelling questions we will design and collect research to answer. Check out this sample Animoto to forward think about your technology products!

  • Make sure to cite your sources in APA format.
  • You will be creating an annotated bibliography. Follow the guiding documents to help you create your annotated bibliography with your team this week.



Task #2: Creatively synthesize claims & evidences




Task #3: Animoto Tutorial (start gathering images & determine data to add to your Animoto), (On Friday--combined time-block for Wake STEM only)/ continue Claims/Evidences Guide/ Continue Target Data Sets
This week's goals: Are you sharing your research links, synthesizing what you learn, and engaging in a dialogue on Quip to help each other understand what you've learned? Can you form conclusion to help you write evidence based paragraphs about your research?

Everyone will be in different parts of your creative processes. Complete the tasks listed below in whichever designated time block you are able.


Task #1: Are there holes in our data? Additional labs as needed.

Task #2: Finish polishing claims/evidences guide.

Task #3: Finish polishing Animoto
Task #4: Chat w/ group about the way you will present your project
Task #5: Receive feedback from coaches & teachers in a dry-run on October 30 in the commons (STEM only). Adjust and improve as needed and consult w/ international partners.
